Galei Hayam Hatichon - Key Dates

27th October 1995

Galei Hayam Hatichon begins broadcasts from an offshore  base, MV Kajur

Mid November 1995

MV Kajur was raided by the  Israeli Ministry of Communications and  Galei Hayam Hatichon was closed down (together with sister station Radio Dan )

23rd November 1995

The MV Kajur ran aground and was severely damaged.

2nd February 1999

As part of ‘ Nature Protection Week’ the Israeli Environment Ministry start to dismantle and clear what was left of the MV Kajur









30th October 1995 The people of Quebec, Canada, rejected an independence referendum by a very narrow margin,

20th November 1995   

BBC Television broadcast an interview with Princess Diana, who admitted being unfaithful to Prince Charles.





1st February 1999 The Morse code SOS was officially retired and replaced by the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System.
